This year was a very difficult, strange and wonderful year. Some very good things in my personal life made finding the time to write difficult but it was a good trade. Other issues, with a few exceptions, have been fading into the background. So things look like they may calm down. Maybe. *fingers crossed*
This was also the year I went back “into the box.” I used to use a card file a lot as a time organizer when the kids were younger and the idea of making a schedule was laughable. For anyone who’s interested, the system as I use it can be found in Sidetracked Home Executives by Pam and Peggy. It’s a great system for those who need a lot of flexibility in their daily life. Like me. 🙂
Writing-wise, I managed to get two books out under a pen name, wrote and published two collections of flash fiction, made the covers for all four projects, and managed to blog and tweet somewhat regularly up until the last couple of months. I tried a few new techniques, one of which did NOT work for me, but now I know. And I went through Holly Lisle’s flagship course, How to Think Sideways, for the second time. More on that in my next post.
And now, my plans for 2016:
First, publish book three in my space opera series under my pen name.
Next comes another flash fiction collection published under this name. While I work on that, I’m going to be working on fixing up The Castle in the Story for prime time.
If I can manage to get that much done I’ll be thrilled. If I have the time, I also plan on getting back into the Trial of the Ornic series, but at this point in my life I’ll consider it a bonus.
And in all this, I’m going to focus only on the writing and the fun I’ve always had with it. I’m starting to lose that focus and I think it shows.
Have fun. Play. 🙂
I’m not sure what I’ll do with this blog. Just let it evolve, I guess.
We’ll see how well I do at all this next December.
What about you? What are your goals for 2016?
