A while back I posted Echelon’s sentence and blurb. That’s the last time I’m doing that without a disclaimer because one of the comments in the crit I got back really caused me to think through some aspects of the plot.
And I realized I didn’t need those aspects.
The core of the story remains. The characters, their motivations, their goals, even their obstacles have not changed. In fact, I think taking those aspects out will only make the story stronger. I hope, anyway.
In the future, though, I’m going to be adding a disclaimer to my blurbs that everything about it may change. Otherwise, I’ll feel bad for setting expectations that shouldn’t really be set until its ready to publish.
