The Baker’s Wife, part three, coming to Wattpad this summer

First off, if you were among those who downloaded a free copy of The Baker’s Wife (part two) this past weekend, thank you!

Much as I enjoy this process, I don’t like serializing novels this way. Part two ended with a cliffhanger, and I’d really rather not put my readers through the wait that might happen if I only put these stories up on Kindle. It just takes too long.

So, here’s what I’ve decided to do for now. I’m going to put the rough draft of part three up on Wattpad as soon as it’s in a halfway decent shape. I’m not sure when that will be but it will likely be sometime this summer, hopefully next month. It’s sure to be filled with typos and continuity errors and so on. That said, I think it might be fun, both for my readers and me, and it’ll definitely allow those who have read part two to find out what happened to Zhiv and Krysilla. As long as it’s clear this is a rough draft, and not a finished product, I don’t see the problem in putting it up.

Well, there is one problem. KDP Select. I can’t put up the first two parts on Wattpad until about mid-July, and because this is an actual novel and not a book in a series, I kind of start part three in the middle of the action. However, I’ve decided to mitigate that with three solutions:

* Summarize the events of the first two books as neatly as I can and make that the first “chapter” in part three.

* I still have promotional days left and will be using them soon: once in June, and once in July. Those who want to get the books for free can watch for the announcement here on this blog (I may insert the dates into the Wattpad document. Not sure if that will be against their TOS or not. We’ll see.)

* Do not renew Select for both books. This way, I can put them up for free on Wattpad once they’re out of the Select program. (They aren’t rough drafts, but I may be changing some things in part two for the complete novel edition, so why not?) Not only that, but I’ll be able to offer them through a multitude of distribution channels because not everyone owns a Kindle.

After I’ve finished polishing the rough draft, I’m going to release it as a separate part (for those who don’t want to buy parts one and two again) and put all three parts together for the complete novel, at which point, I’ll start working on part one of book two in this series. 🙂

Okay, that’s the biggest announcement.

Next, I’ve redesigned the cover for Shining Armor. I’ll be revealing that next week, though I may not replace the old one. (Side note for those who have read SA and wondered when the sequel will be out: it’s written, but not polished. I’m hoping to get it published by December of this year.)

Lastly,I’ll be putting up the first three chapters of Shining Armor for free here on this blog tomorrow.

Other than that, it’s going to be writing, writing, writing, for the rest of today and all of tomorrow. Life happened and I’m really far behind on TBW, part three. Wish me luck!

Oh, and feel free to put all and any thoughts related to this post in the comments. Or use the Contact form. Either way, I’d love to hear what you have to say about my plans.
