No, Shatter Me has not improved. However, I read this post by Susan K. Coleman and ended up looking at reviews by those who liked the book. The more I read, the more I had to find out about the author. This led me to her blog.
Oh.
The woman can write.
I have no idea what happened to Shatter Me because the writing in her blog is good. Even her metaphors are tasteful and useful. They never get in the way. In fact, sometimes they sing. Just look. Heck, if she had written a book with as much ability as her blog posts indicate, I’m sure I’d end up as yet another adoring fan.
She didn’t. And the more I think about it, the less I think it’s her fault, especially after reading her blog.
But enough of that. Contrary to any impression I gave earlier, I don’t want this blog to be negative. On to more productive things.
